Cloud Transition Acceleration in 2024: Insights from Google Cloud India MD
In 2024, traditional companies are set to expedite their transition to the cloud, according to Bikram Singh Bedi, Managing Director of Google Cloud India. Emphasizing the significance of Generative AI, Bedi highlighted its continued prominence in various use cases, including content generation, summarization, discoverability, business/process automation, and enhancing employee productivity.
Google Cloud is actively assisting companies, such as Jio, Airtel, Mahindra and Mahindra, Adani Group, Apollo Hospitals, and HDFC Bank, in building tailored solutions. Bedi noted that some traditional companies have fully embraced the cloud, relinquishing their own data centers.
As companies expand their digital presence, security is a paramount concern. Bedi explained that Google Cloud addresses this challenge by offering infrastructure around security, providing tools like Mandiant for intrusion detection and red teaming exercises. Mandiant, acquired by Google in 2022, aids companies in swiftly recovering after a security event.
Highlighting Google Cloud’s initiatives, Bedi mentioned a center of excellence with the Ministry of Electronics and IT, collaborating on the Bhashini platform. The project involves using government datasets to train models with Google Gen-AI technologies, followed by Bhashini refining them in Indian languages.
In a substantial effort, Google Cloud plans to train over a million students and professionals in Gen-AI knowledge and skills. Additionally, the company aims to provide security-related training to 1,000 government personnel, forming a dedicated ‘cyber force.’
